  1.           TURNING THE UNIT ON AND CONTROLLING POSITIONING

  3. The slit-lamp is turned on and off and the light 
  4. intensity is controlled by the unit mounted 
  5. below the table.  
  6.  
  7. The movement of the slit-lamp biomicroscope 
  8. laterally and in and out is controlled by the 
  9. joystick.  The vertical movement is by twisting 
  10. the ring at the base of the joystick or by the 
  11. collar in front of the joystick depending on the 
  12. model.

  14. The vertical adjustment is accomplished on some 
  15. instruments by twisting the joystick-clockwise 
  16. to raise and counter-clockwise to lower.
  17.  
  18. The unit can be locked so it does not move by 
  19. the small knob near the table top on the right 
  20. side.  This should be locked when not in use so 
  21. the unit is not damaged when it is swung out of 
  22. the way if on the stand or when the table is 
  23. moved.
